Research Methodology Workshop for PG Teachers Report

Research Methodology workshop for Post graduate teachers was organized in the college and approved by Pune Regional Center, MUHS Nashik during 28th to 30th April 2012.

The workshop was inaugurated at the hands of Dr. Arun Jamkar, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Maharashtra University of Health Sciences. Dr V.V. Doiphode was President of the function. Dr. B.K.Bhagwat, Vice President, RSM, Pune, Dr. D. P. Puranik, Secretary, RSM, Pune, Dr. Payal Bansal, In charge, MET cell,MUHS regional center Pune, DR. Manoj Nesari, Jt Advisor, AYUSH, New Delhi, Dr Sarita Gaikwad, ADA, Pune Dr. S.P.Rao, Prof Dept of PSM, B J Medical College, Pune were present for the inauguration of the programme. Dr. Tanuja Nesari, Principal, Tilak Ayurved Mahavidyalaya, Pune welcome all the guest and briefed theme of the workshop. Dr. Arun Jamkar In his inaugural Address explained importance of research in Ayurved, areas of research in Ayurved and motivated students and teachers to undertake research projects in Ayurved. Dr. Manoj Nesari addressed students and teachers. Programme was concluded with Presidential address by Dr. V. V. Doiphode. 

        This three day workshop during 28-30 April 2012, 9 AM to 5.00 PM was attended by the 40 Post graduate teachers in Tilak Ayurved Mahavidyalaya. (List inclosed).  The workshop was conducted in NIMA Auditorium, TAMV, Pune. The workshop began after the inauguration in PG Lecture hall No. 1 with the Lecture by Dr S. P. Rao on Introduction: Research with emphasis on Ayurveda, Second Lecture by Dr MB Nanaware on Study Designs-1: Introduction & Descriptive study Designs. After the lunch break, Dr S.P. Rao explained Case Control  Study Designs,  Experimental study Designs and Dr. MB Nanaware lecture on Descriptive Epidemiology.

            Next session started with Group Activity Group Participants were divided in 5 groups. They were asked to discuss among themselves and come out with at-least 2 research questions and related hypothesis, Indicate why the topic was selected by the group over other topic, Indicate the type of study with reasons thereof and Indicate dependent and independent variables included in the study. The broad areas were Obesity, Occupation Health, and Diabetes. The Participants and Faculties participated in the activity.

    Second day started with the Lectures of Dr. A. P. Kulkarni on Sampling: Methods & Sample size, Literature search in complimentary medicine and Dr. S. P. Rao’s lecture on Questionnaire Designing.

In post lunch session began with Dr Geeta Pardeshi two lectures on Types of data and Data Presentation & Analysis. Then all the participants participated in Group Activity-2: Participants were divide into groups as in GA-1. Each group discussed and presented Sampling method adopted for the study / studies selected in GA-1 and tried to calculate sample size. Presented study question, sample size, Study design assignment given by Dr. Rao. Day was concluded with lecture on Writing a research protocol by Dr. Rao.
